CHINA: A tourist in China narrowly escaped death after plunging from a cliff while attempting to take a selfie on Huaying Mountain in Guang’an, Sichuan on 7 December.

Footage shows the man walking along the edge of a steep drop while holding his phone, moments before the rock beneath him crumbled.

Fall Estimated at Around 50 Feet

Local reports indicate the tourist fell approximately 15 metres (50 feet), tumbling into the trees below.

Fellow hikers rushed to the cliff’s edge in shock as they witnessed the fall.

Despite the dramatic plunge, the man survived with no major injuries.

Victim Says He “Thought He Was Going to Die”

The hiker later posted on WeChat, saying he believed he was moments from death as the rock gave way.

He wrote: “The mountain Gods blessed me. I’m so lucky… When the rocks collapsed, I thought I was going to die. It’s so good to be alive.”

Authorities Clarify: Area Was Off-Limits

A park spokesperson said no such fall was recorded within the official scenic area and clarified that the site, known as Blade Rock, lies outside designated tourist zones.

Climbing in that area is prohibited, and visitors were reminded not to enter closed or dangerous locations.
