MALAYSIA: Malaysian police have arrested a 22-year-old man believed to be responsible for a five-vehicle collision on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), footage of which has been widely circulated on social media.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the accident, which occurred around 5.17 pm on 18 October 2025, involved two lorries and three cars.

A report was lodged at about 11 am on 21 October.

Suspect Allegedly Drove Recklessly

Preliminary investigations revealed that the crash began when a black Land Rover, allegedly driven recklessly by the suspect, swerved to the right side of the road.

A lorry approaching from behind then crashed into several vehicles that had slowed down at the scene, triggering a multi-vehicle pileup.

Police Investigation Underway

The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving — an offence that can result in imprisonment, a fine, or both.

Police said the suspect has no prior criminal record.

Public Reminder to Drive Safely

Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, warning that firm action will be taken against those who drive dangerously or endanger others on the road.
