Dashcam footage shows a Malaysian Red Crescent Society ambulance running a red light and crashing into a car before hitting several motorcyclists at a Setapak intersection in Kuala Lumpur. Eight people were injured, including a nine-year-old girl. Police are investigating the incident.

MALAYSIA: Dashcam footage circulating online has captured the moment a Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSM) ambulance ran a red light and collided with multiple road users at a traffic light junction in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
The accident occurred at about 8.10am on Monday (22 December) at the Jalan Usahawan 6 intersection, according to local media reports.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said initial investigations found that a car travelling straight from Wangsa Maju had entered the intersection on a green light.
At the same time, the ambulance entered the junction against a red light, crashing into the car before ploughing into a group of motorcyclists waiting at the traffic light.
Mohd Zamzuri confirmed that the ambulance’s siren and emergency lights were activated prior to the crash, but noted that emergency vehicles are still required to slow down when approaching intersections.
Eight injured, including a child
Eight people were injured in the collision, including the ambulance driver and passenger, four male motorcyclists, a nine-year-old girl who was riding pillion, and a 40-year-old male motorcyclist.
The adult motorcyclist suffered a fractured right thigh, while the child sustained cuts and bruises.
All victims were taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed that no patient was being transported at the time of the crash, and that the ambulance was en route to pick up a patient at PPR Gombak Setia.
Authorities are investigating the case under Section 43(1) of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
