Couple killed after SUV plunges into 200-foot ravine in Terengganu
Couple destined to marry on 25 Dec died on 5 Dec after their SUV plunged 200 ft into a ravine along Jalan Kuala Jeneris–Sungai Gawi–Aring, Hulu Terengganu. Police say the vehicle entered a landslide-closed road, skidded and plunged. The victims were thrown from the SUV and died on the spot.

MALAYSIA: A couple who were preparing to wed later this month died after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a ravine along Jalan Kuala Jeneris–Sungai Gawi–Aring (Bukit Kawah) in Hulu Terengganu on 5 December.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab confirmed that the victims were Hassan Shazali, 52, a teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lebir, and Suzaimah Che Azis, 34, a canteen worker at the same school.
Both were from Kelantan and were set to marry on 25 December.
SUV Had Entered Closed Road Section
Police received an alert at around 5.30pm reporting that a Toyota Fortuner SUV had skidded and fallen about 200 feet into a ravine.
According to preliminary findings, the couple were travelling from Hulu Terengganu towards Gua Musang when their vehicle entered a stretch of road that had been closed due to a landslide.
The SUV then skidded before plunging into the ravine.
Both Victims Thrown From Vehicle
Supt Sharudin said the force of the crash caused both occupants to be thrown out of the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies were taken to the forensics unit of Hulu Terengganu Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
