A fatal crash at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza on Saturday morning (27 September 2025) claimed the life of a one-year-old boy and left eight others injured after a lorry ploughed into three vehicles.

Kajang police chief Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 42-year-old lorry driver admitted to investigators that he had jumped out of his vehicle, claiming the brakes had failed, Free Malaysia Today reported.

He has been remanded for two days to assist in investigations, and statements from five others, including his employer, have also been recorded.

The lorry has since been sent for inspection.

Police records revealed the suspect has a criminal history involving drug and criminal offences, along with four traffic summonses dating back to 2013 and 2016.

However, his urine test returned negative for drugs and alcohol. The case is being investigated under reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

According to The Star, the victim, Amir Husayn, was one of twin boys born to parents Amirul Ridzuan Abu Bakar and Nurul Husna Khairuddin after nearly a decade of waiting for children.

Amir Husayn was reportedly thrown out of the family’s car, driven by his mother, upon impact.

His twin brother Amir Hasan and other family members survived but sustained injuries.

A post-mortem later confirmed the boy died from internal bleeding.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 11 am and arrived at the scene within minutes, Malay Mail reported.

A baby boy was found trapped under a Nissan X-Trail belonging to the Public Works Department and was freed at 11.30 am but pronounced dead on-site.

A man trapped under the same vehicle was rescued earlier and rushed to hospital.

The collision involved a three-tonne lorry carrying scrap items, the Nissan X-Trail, a Honda City, and a Proton X70.

Seven other victims with injuries were sent to Kajang Hospital, Serdang Hospital, and KPJ Kajang for treatment.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether brake failure or other factors caused the crash.
