MALAYSIA: A male student was hospitalised after allegedly being beaten unconscious by four of his classmates in a school dormitory toilet. Police have arrested four students in connection with the assault.

The victim’s mother reported receiving a call from the school at 9:05am on Monday (24 Nov), informing her that her son had been found unconscious in the dormitory toilet.

He was immediately rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment.

"The mother said her son told her he was assaulted by several students at 12:10am on Monday, causing him to lose consciousness," Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said.

"Investigations found that the incident occurred in the school dormitory."

Investigations suggest the assault was triggered by claims that the victim had spoken ill of a friend of one of the students involved.

"The main suspect reportedly called three friends to confront the victim, which led to the fight," ACP Hanyan added.

He noted that this was the first incident of its kind at the school and that there were no CCTV cameras in the area where the assault occurred.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

Following the incident, four students aged between 16 and 17 were detained to assist with investigations.

One of the students, aged 16, has been remanded at Sungai Petani Court, while the remaining three were released.

The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
