KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin, Youth treasurer of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) under the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, has been temporarily relieved of his party duties following explicit allegations made against him by his former wife, entrepreneur and influencer Amyera Zainal, on social media.
According to Malay Mail, UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh confirmed the decision on 29 October 2025, stating it was made to allow Shahrul to resolve his personal issues privately.
Amyera’s accusations, shared through a series of Instagram Stories on 28 October, included claims that Shahrul maintained a “sex den”, hired sex workers, and subscribed to the adult platform OnlyFans.
Screenshots she posted allegedly showed messages, photos, and sexual paraphernalia that she claimed were linked to his misconduct.
The controversy erupted only days after Shahrul publicly announced his engagement to Meerween Hanees Natasha Meeat on 25 October, intensifying public scrutiny of his personal life.
Amyera claimed she decided to go public after allegedly facing harassment from individuals close to her ex-husband, including his fiancée.
“This is just a glimpse of why I divorced him,” she wrote, asserting that Shahrul presented himself publicly as seeking a modest woman while privately engaging in explicit activities.
She also alleged that Shahrul rented a secret property for liaisons to avoid being detected, saying she tracked his movements through his phone location.
“Since he is not able to go to a hotel because I have his (live) location… this is not even the first place; it is the second,” she claimed.

The posts rapidly went viral, sparking heated discussions online and prompting questions about Shahrul’s credibility as a political figure.
Many social media users expressed outrage, while others urged caution against trial by social media.
In his statement issued via Instagram on 28 October, Shahrul said he regretted the public nature of the dispute and confirmed that his divorce from Amyera was finalised in July 2024.
“As a human being, I am not free from making mistakes. I do not deny my shortcomings, and what happened in my past marriage is a valuable life lesson,” he said.
He further stated that his fiancée had no involvement in the controversy and urged the public not to link her to the accusations. Shahrul added that he would consider legal action against those spreading false information or engaging in online harassment.
Amyera, however, stood by her statements and challenged him to proceed with legal action if he believed her claims were false.
“Please, go ahead with your legal action if you think I am lying. I am ready,” she wrote in a follow-up post.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth secretary later confirmed that Shahrul had been relieved of his treasurer role, emphasising that the move was to give him space to address his personal affairs.
Party leaders stated that the controversy was unrelated to UMNO’s internal or political matters and no further disciplinary action had yet been determined.
