MALAYSIA: A technician working for national electricity provider Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was found dead inside his car at the parking lot of an apartment in Bukit Beruang, Melaka, on Tuesday evening (27 January).
Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said police received an emergency call at about 7.05pm and immediately dispatched officers and forensic personnel to the scene.
The deceased was identified as Mohamad Azwan, aged 39, who worked as a technician for a utility company.
According to an apartment security guard, Mohamad had arrived at the premises at around 10am to carry out a routine inspection of the electrical meter — a task he had performed regularly at the location.
The guard said he did not notice whether Mohamad exited his car after parking, as he was occupied with other duties.
Discovered Unresponsive After Nine Hours
After noticing that the vehicle was still parked in the same spot nearly nine hours later, the guard went to check on Mohamad and discovered him lying unresponsive in the driver’s seat.
Police from the Ayer Keroh police station were alerted and arrived shortly after to begin investigations.
ACP Christopher Patit said an external examination of the body found no signs of injury or suspicious circumstances.
“There was also no damage to the vehicle. Preliminary findings indicate no criminal elements were involved,” he said.
Post-Mortem Confirms Heart Condition
The body was sent to the Forensic Department of Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday morning.
“The post-mortem determined the cause of death to be coronary atherosclerosis, or blockage of the heart arteries,” ACP Patit said.
Family members told police that Mohamad was single and had no known underlying medical conditions.
The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR) and marked as No Further Action.
