Man brandishing meat cleaver arrested after causing panic in Kuala Selangor neighbourhood
A man was arrested after running amok while wielding a meat cleaver in Taman Jasa, Ijok, Kuala Selangor, on 12 October. Police officers managed to detain the suspect without injuries after he was seen shouting and behaving violently in the residential area.

KUALA SELANGOR, Malaysia — A man was apprehended after running amok while wielding a meat cleaver in Taman Jasa, Ijok, on Sunday afternoon (12 Oct), sending residents into panic.
Police respond swiftly to violent outburst
According to Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajuddin, officers received an emergency call at around 6pm reporting that a man was acting violently and attempting to attack residents in the housing area.
A police team from the Bestari Jaya Police Station was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the suspect shouting while holding a cleaver.
Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and successfully detain the man without any injuries to the suspect or the public.
Dramatic video shows tense standoff
A 30-second video circulating online shows the tense moments leading up to the arrest, with several officers seen drawing their firearms as a precaution while confronting the armed suspect.
The situation was brought under control shortly after.
Suspect under investigation for attempted murder
Superintendent Azaharudin confirmed that the suspect has been remanded for six days, from 13 to 18 October, to assist investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
