MALAYSIA: A fatal accident occurred at about 10pm on 9 December in front of a Thai seafood restaurant in Sri Utama, Jitra.

A Kawasaki ZX1000-E superbike travelling at high speed towards Alor Setar slammed into the left rear door of a car that was turning right into Taman Pertiwi.

Rider Died on the Spot

Police said the rider, Ahmad Fauzi, 52, a retiree from Mendung, suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. His body was taken to Hospital Tuanku Fauziah for a post-mortem examination.

Two in Car Injured

The car was driven by a 31-year-old Chinese man who had reportedly stopped at the junction with his right-turn signal on before attempting to enter the residential area.

A 23-year-old Thai woman in the car suffered head injuries and was sent to the red zone for treatment. Both she and the driver, who sustained injuries to his waist, neck and left arm, remain under observation.

Driver Investigated for Dangerous Driving

Police said the junction is a dual-carriageway with proper lighting and that weather conditions were clear at the time. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver’s negligence while making the right turn caused the crash.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving resulting in death.
