Two Singaporean women are under investigation in Malaysia after allegedly stealing clothes from multiple boutiques in Johor Bahru.

The latest case occurred on 19 September 2025 at Megumi’s Room, a boutique in Eco Botanic, Iskandar Puteri, as reported by China Press.

CCTV footage captured the pair, aged around 25 to 28, pretending to try on outfits before stuffing items into their bags.

One of them even approached the counter and feigned making a payment with a credit card, seemingly unaware of the cameras.

According to the store owner, the women made off with seven clothing items valued at about RM700 (approximately US$166.29).

A police report was filed locally, with another lodged in Singapore.

The store owner claimed the women appeared to be Singaporeans, pointing to their accents, a credit card tied to a Singapore number, and information she said was uncovered during police checks, including that they carried Singapore passports.

The women are also accused of targeting at least two other boutiques in Johor Bahru, with one shop reporting it was hit twice.

Other shopkeepers came forward after a “wanted” notice went viral on social media.

In one earlier case, the duo allegedly returned stolen clothes when confronted, claiming the items had “fallen into their bags by accident.”

Malaysian authorities are now probing whether the pair are tied to a string of shoplifting incidents across the city.
