MALAYSIA: A 26-year-old man who allegedly robbed four women and raped one of them at a condominium in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, has died while in police custody.

According to Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, the suspect had posed as a deliveryman to gain access to the condominium unit before attacking the victims.

Victims tied and confined

Harian Metro, a local news outlet, reported that after entering the unit, the suspect allegedly tied the hands of all four women and locked three of them in a bedroom.

He then brought the fourth victim to another room, where he reportedly raped her twice — once in the bedroom and once in the toilet.

Police said the man also stole RM200 (approximately US$34) and an ATM card from the victim before committing the assaults.

Confrontation with police

Officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) responded to the incident at about 12.40 pm on 7 October 2025.

When two officers arrived at the scene and called out to the occupants, the suspect opened the door about five minutes later.

After the officers identified themselves and entered the unit to conduct an inspection, the suspect allegedly attempted to attack them with a knife.

A struggle ensued, during which the suspect reportedly punched one officer in the face and bit his arm before being subdued with the help of a condominium security guard.

Death under investigation

Police said the man complained of shortness of breath shortly after his arrest.

An ambulance was called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

A preliminary forensic examination found no visible injuries on his body.

The cause of death is pending further investigation by Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect had ten prior criminal records, all related to theft.
