Weak earthquake felt in parts of Johor and Melaka

MALAYSIA: A weak magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck Bukit Kepong in Pagoh, Johor, at 8.55 am on 28 December 2025, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The epicentre was located about 16km south-west of Segamat at a depth of 10km.
Tremors reported, no damage
MetMalaysia said tremors were felt in several areas across Johor and neighbouring Melaka.
Authorities confirmed there were no reports of injuries or property damage following the incident.
Authorities issue reassurance
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the situation was under control and posed no tsunami threat.
Relevant agencies are continuing to monitor developments, while the public has been advised to remain calm and follow official instructions.
Recent seismic activity
The quake follows a series of minor earthquakes recorded in Johor earlier this year, including tremors in Segamat and Batu Pahat between late August and early September.
