SINGAPORE: A 61-year-old man was found dead at a hair salon in the Farrer Park area on 1 December, in what is believed to have been a fall down a staircase.

Mothership reported that police were alerted to a case of unnatural death at Owen Road at around 7:50am.

The man was discovered motionless inside the unit and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.

Shin Min Daily News reporters who visited the two-storey shophouse observed numerous police officers conducting investigations.

The shophouse has a staircase connecting the first and second floors, where the man’s family reportedly resided.

Rags were scattered on the floor and along the staircase steps, while a strong disinfectant smell mixed with a faint odour lingered in the air, Shin Min reported.

A woman identifying herself as the deceased’s older sister told Shin Min that she discovered her brother’s body upon arriving at the store at around 7am.

She said he was staying with their mother and younger sister on the second floor at the time.

“I never expected this to happen. I think he might have accidentally fallen down the stairs,” she said, declining to provide further comments.

Preliminary investigations indicate that foul play is not suspected. Police investigations are ongoing.
