The police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was found dead near the shore of Sembawang Park on 20 October.
According to a statement from the Singapore Police Force, officers received a call for assistance at about 2.20pm after a body was sighted floating in the water near the park.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it also received a call for help at around 2.30pm in the Kampong Wak Hassan area. A paramedic pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Lianhe Zaobao reported that several police officers were seen at the park’s beachfront that afternoon. A police black car was also spotted at the scene, and a cordon was put up as officers conducted investigations.
A photo shared on the sgfollowsall Telegram channel on 20 October showed a blue tent set up behind a police cordon, with several police vehicles nearby.
Police confirmed that based on preliminary investigations, foul play has been ruled out. However, further inquiries are under way to determine the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
No further details about the man’s identity have been released, pending next-of-kin notification.
