SINGAPORE: The family of a motorcyclist who died following an accident with a lorry along the Central Expressway (CTE) is appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that could shed light on the incident.

The accident took place on 17 July 2025, at around 8:45am, on the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE), near the Yio Chu Kang Road exit.

Police confirmed that the 38-year-old motorcyclist was taken conscious to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A 50-year-old lorry driver is assisting police with investigations. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident and transported one person to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Sister appeals for public help

On 22 July, the victim’s sister, Ng Sher Ren, made a public appeal on Facebook for anyone with information to come forward.

She identified her brother as Ng Sir Kiat, who had been riding his motorcycle — licence plate FBB8556B — when the crash occurred.

“My beloved brother, Ng Sir Kiat, was involved in this tragic accident and has sadly passed away,” she wrote.

Ng shared that the lorry driver told police he had been driving slowly in lane five and only felt an impact on the rear left side of his vehicle.

However, on the final night of her brother’s wake, the family received a message from a witness who offered a different account.

According to the witness, the lorry had veered into Ng’s lane, forcing him to brake abruptly and lose control of his motorcycle.

Ng is now urging anyone who was travelling on the CTE that morning to come forward with information.

“If you were driving on the CTE that morning and saw anything — or if you have dashcam footage — please help us seek the truth,” she said.

She added that those with information could contact her via Facebook or Instagram.

“We are deeply grateful for any information you can provide. Thank you for your kindness and support during this painful time,” she wrote.
