SINGAPORE: A 54-year-old man was found dead along a sheltered corridor at a public housing block in Chinatown in the early hours of 7 January.

The incident occurred at Block 333 Kreta Ayer Road, where the man was discovered motionless along the second-floor corridor.

The aftermath was photographed by an onlooker, who later shared the image with Shin Min Daily News.

In the photo, a blue tent could be seen set up outside a shop unit on the second floor, while police had cordoned off the walkway and staircase on the first floor.

Employees working at nearby shops said they were unclear about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A male resident told Shin Min that when he left his home at around 8am, he saw a large number of police officers at the scene.

He added that the entire floor had been temporarily sealed off as investigations were carried out.

Police investigations ongoing

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they received a call for assistance at around 5.50am on 7 January.

A 54-year-old man was found motionless within the sheltered area of the housing block and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.

Based on preliminary investigations, police said they do not suspect foul play. Investigations are ongoing.
