SINGAPORE: A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) tank collided with a traffic light on 5 July 2025 during a National Day Parade (NDP) education show, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) confirmed.

The incident took place at about 7.20pm along North Bridge Road, shortly after the Mobile Column segment of NDP National Education (NE) Show 2.

According to MINDEF, a Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tank (L2SG) experienced a technical issue while making a right turn near Parliament House, resulting in contact with a traffic light.

Footage shared by Facebook page SGRV showed the tank slowing down before striking the traffic light, then reversing slightly before completing its turn. The traffic light appeared slightly misaligned after the impact.

MINDEF said no personnel were injured, and the tank remained within the cordoned area, away from members of the public.

The L2SG was moving at a speed below the 20km/h limit, and the crew followed standard operating procedures.

While the tank sustained no damage, the traffic light stand suffered minor damage and has since been repaired.

MINDEF and the NDP 2025 Executive Committee worked with the Land Transport Authority to address the issue.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
