SINGAPORE — A 52-year-old man was arrested in Tampines after breaching a Personal Protection Order (PPO) and locking himself inside his flat with a family member, triggering a police standoff that drew multiple emergency units.
Police and rescue teams deployed in Tampines standoff
Police said they received a distress call at around 3.20pm on 28 October 2025 from Block 845 Tampines Street 83, after the man allegedly threatened to kill his wife earlier that day. The woman and the couple’s four-year-old daughter fled the unit and sought help from a neighbour.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deployed safety air packs beneath the block as a precaution, while officers from the Special Operations Command (SOC), Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU), and Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) were mobilised to the scene.
During the incident, the man reportedly threw his wife’s clothes and belongings out of the flat before barricading himself inside with his elderly father-in-law, who has mobility issues.
After several hours of negotiation, the suspect eventually opened the door and was arrested for breaching the PPO.
History of domestic disputes and prior protection order
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the man’s wife said they had been married for 17 years and shared two children. She recounted that her husband began losing control of his emotions about five years ago, which led to escalating conflicts.
In 2022, a Personal Protection Order was issued, requiring him to stay out of her bedroom. Since then, he had been sleeping in the living room, while she and the children occupied the other rooms.
Neighbours told reporters that frequent arguments had occurred in the household over the years and that police visits to the flat were common.
Domestic exclusion order to be enforced
Following the arrest, authorities informed the man’s wife that a domestic exclusion order would be issued to prevent him from returning to the flat. Police investigations are ongoing.
