The Singapore Sports Hub has been officially renamed The Kallang, with a slate of infrastructure improvements and expanded event programming announced as part of the rebranding.

The Kallang Group will continue to manage the precinct’s infrastructure and programming. According to the group, The Kallang now refers to the full precinct previously known as the Singapore Sports Hub, encompassing existing facilities such as the National Stadium and OCBC Arena.

The name change was announced by Keith Magnus, Chair of The Kallang Group, and Quek Swee Kuan, Chief Executive Officer, at a launch event held at the Bank of Singapore Lounge in the National Stadium.

The event was attended by over 300 stakeholders and staff from across the precinct’s four strategic focus areas: sport, entertainment, lifestyle and community.

Following the government’s takeover of the Sports Hub on 9 December 2022, the precinct has hosted more than 4,000 event days and over 9.5 million visitors. Notable events included the World Aquatics ChampionshipsWorld Para Swimming Championships, and concerts by artists such as Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.

According to media reports citing private-sector estimates, concerts by major global artists have generated approximately S$650 million in tourism receipts.

The Kallang has also hosted community events such as the National School GamesMajulah FiestaGetActive! and ONE Countdown. The precinct continues to serve as the home ground for the Singapore national football team.

Magnus stated: “Over the past three years, this precinct has transformed into a dynamic hub for world-class sport, entertainment and community life, hosting over 4,000 event days and welcoming more than nine million visitors.”

He added that The Kallang aims to become a prominent destination for all Singaporeans and regional visitors.

Yip Pin Xiu, Singapore’s most decorated Paralympian, said: “For Team Singapore athletes, The Kallang has always been a training ground and stage for world-class excellence.”

Charles Hsiung, President of Asia Pacific Group and WTA Tournament Board Representative for the APAC region, said: “The Kallang’s strength lies in its efficiency, multifunctional capability, and clear delivery of the organisation’s values and mission.”

The Kallang Group stated its continued commitment to engaging diverse communities through inclusive programming and charity partnerships.

Since 2023, the group has collaborated with over 100 charities to provide access to live events. A philanthropic fund is being explored to expand community access to sports and entertainment programming.

The precinct’s brand values have been defined as ConnectionVibrancyExcellence and Leadership, under the new tagline Feel Alive.

Planned infrastructure developments

From the second quarter of 2026, The Kallang will undergo a phased redevelopment. Key features include:

  • A new 18,000-seat indoor arena, exceeding the current capacity of the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

  • The Home of Team Singapore, a new national training centre.

  • Refurbishments to the Kallang Wave Mall, including new alfresco dining areas, upgraded family spaces, and an enhanced Splash-N-Surf area.

  • Introduction of a sheltered padel ecosystem with competition-ready courts.

  • Upgraded climbing and bouldering facilities.

The mall will remain operational throughout the renovation works, which are expected to conclude in 2028.

Event programming and continued usage

The Kallang will continue to host high-profile sports and entertainment events. Confirmed events in 2026 include:

  • HSBC SVNS Singapore rugby tournament (31 January–1 February)

  • Singapore Smash table tennis championship (19 February–1 March)

  • WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open (21–27 September)

  • 2026 National Day Parade, returning to the National Stadium for the first time since 2016

The precinct will also host a sold-out concert by My Chemical Romance on 28 April 2026.

The Kallang Group’s first event following the rebranding will be Countdown 2026 on 31 December 2025. The event will feature a concert by K-pop group Super Junior, family-friendly activities, and a 35-minute fireworks display over the Kallang Basin.

Attendees aged 18 and above who register their interest online will be eligible to win The Kallang Pass, which grants access to a series of events at the National Stadium and Singapore Indoor Stadium throughout 2026.
