Two workers rescued after gondola cable snaps outside Raffles City Tower
Two workers were trapped on a suspended gondola outside Raffles City Tower after a steel cable allegedly snapped during cleaning works. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) carried out a high-rise rescue operation, bringing both workers to safety.

- The gondola malfunctioned between the 28th and 29th floors after a cable reportedly broke.
- SCDF’s Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team secured and rescued both workers safely.
- The workers were taken to Raffles Hospital in stable condition.
SINGAPORE: Two workers were trapped on a work gondola outside Raffles City Tower on 21 July 2025.
At about 11.20am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to a height rescue incident at North Bridge Road. The workers were stranded between the 28th and 29th floors after a steel cable allegedly broke during cleaning works.
Upon arrival, firefighters checked the gondola’s stability and the workers’ condition.
Rescuers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team also responded. They set up rescue equipment on levels 29 and 30 of the building.
Safety lines secured the gondola before a rescuer descended to reach the trapped workers.
Both workers were wearing body harnesses and were secured by the rescuer. They were then brought into the building through windows on levels 29 and 30.
SCDF confirmed both workers were assessed by a paramedic and taken to Raffles Hospital in stable condition.
