Thai pensioner was killed after aggressive wild macaque attacks him at home
A 63-year-old man in Thailand’s Yala province has been killed by a wild pig-tailed macaque that bit him repeatedly inside his home, prompting police to launch a hunt for the animal.

THAILAND: A pensioner in southern Thailand was found dead after being violently attacked by a wild macaque that had entered his home.
Chaiphum Sae-eung, 63, attempted to defend himself with a metal rod as the aggressive male pig-tailed macaque charged at him, biting and scratching repeatedly.
The attack left a large chunk missing from his left leg and dozens of bite wounds across his body.
Nephew Makes Grisly Discovery
Chaiphum’s nephew, Pipat Sae-eung, discovered the body on Saturday, slumped against a wall and surrounded by a pool of blood.
Police said the victim had likely been dead for two to three days, noting that his body was bloated and giving off a strong odour.
Investigators found both animal and human footprints at the scene, and the monkey was still perched in the rafters when officers arrived.

Monkey Had Terrorised Residents Before
Local villagers reported that the same macaque had been behaving aggressively for weeks while trailing a female.
It had bitten Chaiphum on the shoulder roughly ten days earlier and had lunged at another family only a few days before the fatal attack, forcing them to flee their home.
Authorities Issue Shoot-to-Kill Order
Police Major Jakkarin Laksana of Betong Police Station said there was no indication of human involvement in the death, and that officers are now actively hunting the macaque “for the safety of residents”.
Authorities have issued a shoot-to-kill order due to the animal’s escalating aggression. The incident comes amid Thailand’s wider struggle with macaque overpopulation, with monkeys increasingly raiding urban areas and attacking locals.
