KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: A bank in Malaysia issued a public apology on 25 November 2025 after a viral video showed a homeless man being mistreated outside its Taman Maluri outlet in Kuala Lumpur.
The short clip shows a female security guard turning on a hose and spraying water on a man lying on the ground.
Another man then appears, continuing to spray him and kicking him in an apparent attempt to drive him away.
In its statement, the bank said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident.
It emphasised that the security guard was employed by an external service provider but stressed that all individuals representing the bank, whether staff or partners, must maintain professional conduct.
The bank added that the safety of everyone near its premises is a priority, noting that “no individuals deserve to be treated in that manner”.
It also confirmed that it is cooperating fully with the authorities as investigations continue.
Public reaction online was swift and intense.
Many netizens criticised the actions seen in the video, calling them excessive and inhumane.
Some questioned what disciplinary measures the bank would take and argued that an apology should be offered directly to the man involved.
Investigations were ongoing at the time of publication, and no disciplinary conclusions had been announced.
