MALAYSIA: A 40-year-old lorry driver’s high-risk attempt to escape a police checkpoint by driving the wrong way on the North-South Expressway for 150 kilometres ended with his arrest in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung, on 30 November.

Hulu Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Ibrahim Husin, said officers received a call from a patrol unit at 5.35 am, reporting that a lorry had ignored a stop signal.

The driver reportedly entered the expressway via Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza and proceeded to drive against traffic, travelling from Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza to Sungai Buloh Toll Plaza before returning.

Dangerous Driving and Attempted Collision

“The suspect drove dangerously and attempted to ram the patrol vehicle while police tried to stop him,” Ibrahim said in a statement.

Authorities later arrested the man at Taman Bunga Raya and seized the Mitsubishi lorry involved.

Drug History and Legal Action

The suspect, who works as a lorry driver, has two prior drug-related convictions and one criminal record. Urine tests confirmed methamphetamine use.
