KUALA SELANGOR — Police in Kuala Selangor arrested a man who went on a rampage with a meat cleaver in a residential area on 12 October 2025 (Sunday), forcing officers to draw their firearms before safely subduing him.
According to Kuala Selangor OCPD Superintendent Azaharudin Tajuddin, police received an emergency call around 6:00pm from residents in Taman Jasa, Ijok, reporting that a man was behaving violently and attempting to attack others.
“Acting on the information, a team of officers from the Bestari Jaya Police Station rushed to the scene and found the suspect screaming while holding a meat cleaver,” Supt Azaharudin said in a statement on 13 October (Monday).
Police draw weapons to subdue suspect
A 30-second video circulating online captured the tense standoff, showing officers aiming their pistols at the man as he shouted and waved the cleaver aggressively.
Despite the dangerous situation, police managed to calm the suspect and detain him without any injuries to officers, residents, or the man himself.
The footage has since gone viral, with many social media users praising the officers’ discipline and restraint in handling the situation peacefully.
Suspect remanded for investigation under attempted murder
Following his arrest, the man was remanded for six days — from 13 to 18 October — to assist with investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
