MALAYSIA: A married couple was found dead at their home in Sri Aman, Sarawak, on 14 January.
Malaysian police have concluded that no third party was involved in the deaths.
The victims were a 45-year-old school headmaster, recently promoted and transferred to a school in Lubok Antu, and his 44-year-old wife, a nurse at Sri Aman Hospital.
Both sustained serious injuries at their residence along Jalan Brayun.
Forensic findings and witness statements
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said investigations revealed no evidence of a break-in, robbery, or foreign DNA on the weapon used, which contained only the DNA of the two victims.
Statements were recorded from 30 witnesses, including family members, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.
Post-mortem chemical and pathology reports have also been received.
“Based on our investigation, I can conclude that the killing involved only the two victims,” Mohamad Zainal told reporters.
Case pending forensic phone reports
Police said the case has not yet been classified as no further action, as forensic analysis of the victims’ mobile phones is still pending.
Witnesses indicated that the husband had been experiencing depression following his recent promotion and school transfer, which police hope to investigate further through the phone reports.
Post-mortem details
Post-mortem examinations revealed the husband sustained 11 stab injuries to the neck and chest, while his wife suffered a stab wound to the neck.
