  • DHL Summit Solutions, Inc. (DSSI) has deployed the largest owned electric vehicle (EV) logistics fleet in the Philippines.
  • The initiative supports DHL Group’s target to have over 66% EVs in first- and last-mile delivery fleets globally by 2030.
  • The EV fleet offers operational advantages in congested city centres due to exemption from cargo truck bans.

DHL Summit Solutions, Inc. (DSSI), a joint venture between DHL Supply Chain APAC and JG Summit Holdings, Inc., has inaugurated what is now the largest owned electric vehicle (EV) logistics fleet in the Philippines.

The launch, announced on 26 November 2025 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, marks a significant advancement in the country’s push towards more sustainable transportation.

With the deployment of 23 electric vehicles and 22 advanced prime movers, DSSI positions itself at the forefront of green logistics in the region. The investment underscores its alignment with DHL Group’s global objective of raising the share of EVs in its first- and last-mile delivery fleet to over 66 percent by 2030, and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Edwin Wong, Chief Executive Officer of DHL Supply Chain Southeast Asia and interim Managing Director of DSSI, described the launch as “an important step” in building a cleaner and more efficient transport network in the Philippines. He emphasised that the project showcases the strength of the partnership between DHL Supply Chain and JG Summit Holdings, and reflects their shared ambition to lead in sustainable logistics.

Alan Surposa, Chief Resource Officer of JG Summit Holdings, Inc., echoed the sentiment, stating that the collaboration embodies the company’s commitment to an environmentally responsible logistics framework. He highlighted the dual focus on electric mobility and intelligent transport technologies as crucial to shaping “a cleaner, smart future for the Philippines.”

The new fleet rollout is anchored in a two-pronged strategy:

  • Lower emissions: The EVs operate with zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas outputs and improved air quality in high-traffic urban centres.

  • Higher efficiency: The prime movers are integrated with smart systems that enhance route planning and load optimisation, enabling a smaller fleet to handle larger volumes with increased productivity.

Beyond the physical fleet, DSSI is investing in a connected and data-driven logistics ecosystem. At the core of this system is DHL’s Connected Control Tower (CCT), a digital platform that centralises the management of transport operations. The CCT oversees processes from order intake to final delivery, enabling predictive maintenance, real-time tracking, and data-based scheduling for greater operational efficiency.

“This rollout is not just about adding new vehicles,” noted Warren Bodley, Vice President of Transport at DHL Supply Chain Southeast Asia. “It is about empowering our drivers and operations teams with tools that make their work safer and more efficient. Enhanced safety features, real-time data capabilities, and improved comfort are key to a future-ready fleet.”

One of the fleet’s notable operational advantages is its exemption from cargo truck-ban hours in urban zones. In cities where trucks are prohibited from operating during peak hours—typically from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm, excluding Sundays and holidays—EVs can continue operating. This enables DSSI to meet critical delivery windows and serve time-sensitive logistics needs more reliably.

Founded in 2019, DSSI provides domestic transportation, logistics, warehousing and distribution services across the Philippines. Its ongoing investments in green mobility and digitalisation aim to support the evolving demands of the Philippine logistics sector, while contributing to wider environmental goals.

DHL Supply Chain, through its global operations, continues to spearhead initiatives that promote low-carbon logistics. According to company data, DHL operates in more than 220 countries and employs around 400,000 personnel globally. The Group generated revenues of approximately €84.2 billion in 2024 and has committed to achieving net-zero emissions logistics by 2050 through a combination of technology, innovation, and sustainable business practices.
