A couple went above and beyond to reunite a lost husky with its owner — by visiting every floor in an apartment building and letting the dog lead the way.
A video of the heartwarming rescue, posted by TikTok user @bigandchunkyyyyy, has since gone viral, amassing over 34 million views and five million likes at press time.
“We found this lost dog so we brought him to every level until he found his owner,” the on-screen caption reads.
The clip shows the couple taking the brown-and-white husky to each floor and allowing it to run freely along the corridor.
If the dog returned to the lift without stopping at a doorstep, they would move on to the next floor and repeat the process.
How They Found the Husky
In a follow-up TikTok post, the woman explained that she and her boyfriend had first spotted the husky alone in a car park late at night.
“It was literally crying,” she said, adding that the dog had no collar.
The couple tried to locate the owner in the surrounding area but could not find anyone.
When they contacted the building’s security team, the guards said they would “take note” of the matter but could not intervene as they were “not dog-trained”.
Refusing to leave the animal alone, the couple stayed with it for more than half an hour, hoping the owner might return.
“It was around 12am, so there was nobody around,” she said. “I just kept going around asking, ‘Did anybody lose a dog?’”
The Search for Home
At one point, the dog began whimpering outside a door. When the couple opened it, the husky bolted towards a nearby lobby and whimpered again near a key card access point.
Because the couple did not have access to that block, they asked the security guards to unlock the door. Once inside, the pair entered the lift and pressed every button, determined to find the right floor.
When they reached the fourth floor, the husky paused in front of a unit — but its owner turned out to live a level above.
On the fifth floor, the couple called out to a resident and asked if they owned a dog.
An elderly man opened the door and, upon seeing the husky, exclaimed, “That’s my dog!”
The husky immediately ran inside as soon as the door opened.
The man explained that his son had been out walking the dog. The couple then suggested that he contact his son to let him know the dog was safely home. The owner thanked the pair for bringing their dog back.
@bigandchunkyyyyy Bro I literally saw a tiktok about this 😭😭 we stayed with the dog for like 30 mins but couldn’t find the owner so we decided to let the dog lead us back to his house and somehow that worked better

The viral video drew thousands of comments from amused and touched viewers, with many praising the husky’s intelligence and the couple’s persistence.
One user wrote, “Lol the way he walked and went back to the elevator like nope, not here... then was like yeah it’s here (but it wasn’t). I have a Siberian Husky – very adorable!”

"Good to know my husky isn’t the only one who’s somehow a professional escape artist and knows their way home," one user commented.

One user remarked that it was amazing how the husky was cooperating instead of running away.

Another user noted that the husky clearly understood what was happening, praising the breed’s remarkable spatial awareness.
The commenter shared that her own husky could remember walking routes not taken for months and would instinctively know when to turn at specific points.

Some viewers questioned how the owner could have lost such a large and vocal dog, while others pointed out that huskies are known escape artists.

Another user commented that the husky appeared to be understimulated, noting that the breed requires substantial exercise and mental enrichment.
The user added that huskies should ideally have a puzzle feeder daily and be walked or hiked for two to seven miles.
The commenter also observed that the dog seemed delighted to finally receive some stimulation, as shown by its broad, happy expression.
