SINGAPORE: The MySkillsFuture portal experienced intermittent disruption on 30 December 2025, a day before S$500 worth of SkillsFuture credits were set to expire for eligible Singaporeans.
In a Facebook post published at 12.38 am on 31 December 2025, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) said it was facing a “system issue” and was working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
“Please be assured that your SkillsFuture Credit claim, including expiring credits, will be approved once the system is up. We will notify you to submit your claim when the system is up,” SSG said in the post.
A notice placed on the MySkillsFuture portal on Wednesday morning warned users that some digital services might face intermittent disruption during the period.
Users were advised to visit the SkillsFuture Credit claims page to submit their applications once access was available, according to the notice on the portal.
SSG later confirmed that services had been restored. In an update posted at about 8.23 am on 31 December 2025, SkillsFuture said the SkillsFuture Credit system on MySkillsFuture was back online.
It added that users could proceed with submitting their SkillsFuture Credit claims following the restoration of the system.
Reports indicated that the MySkillsFuture website had been inaccessible from as early as about 10.20 pm on Tuesday evening, hours before the official confirmation of system issues.
The disruption came at a critical time, as many Singaporeans rushed to use their one-off S$500 SkillsFuture credit top-up before its expiry on 31 December 2025.
Training providers had reported a sharp increase in demand in the days leading up to the deadline. According to industry feedback shared last week, enrolments for some courses rose by as much as seven times.
The surge reflected a broader trend of last-minute take-up. As of September 2025, about seven in 10 eligible Singaporeans had yet to use their SkillsFuture credit top-up.
The one-off S$500 SkillsFuture credit top-up was introduced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage continued learning and skills upgrading amid economic uncertainty.
It is separate from the original tranche of SkillsFuture Credit, under which all Singaporeans aged 25 and above received S$500 that does not expire.
In addition, Singaporeans aged 40 and above are eligible for a mid-career SkillsFuture credit of S$4,000, which can be used for approved courses and does not have an expiry date.
SkillsFuture Credit can be used to offset course fees for a wide range of eligible training programmes listed on the MySkillsFuture online portal, spanning areas such as digital skills, healthcare, and professional development.
While SSG did not specify the cause of the disruption, its assurance that expiring credits would still be approved appeared aimed at easing concerns among users affected by the temporary outage.
