Dashcam footage shows Lyft driver unwittingly transporting armed robbery suspects

A Lyft driver who posts online under the name “ridewithmarshamallow” said he unknowingly became the getaway driver for an armed robbery, after transporting a group of passengers who were later seen carrying weapons during a ride.

The driver shared the edited video on 10 January, describing it as a ride he said he would “never forget.” The clip has since drawn widespread attention online.

Video shows armed passengers during ride

In the video, the driver is seen transporting several passengers. Based on the footage shown, there appear to be three individuals — one man seated in the front passenger seat and a man and a woman seated at the back.

Two of the men are visibly carrying weapons.

The driver later said he only realised the seriousness of the situation after the ride had ended.

“I’m a Lyft driver. I was unknowingly a getaway driver for an armed robbery,” he said in the video, adding that he contacted police after the passengers exited the vehicle.

Before leaving, one of the passengers is heard telling the driver:

“Alright, man. You have a great night.”

Driver says he cooperated with authorities

In the comments section, the driver clarified that the incident was real and said he acted after the ride concluded.

“For clarity: this clip shows a serious situation from a real ride. After the ride ended, I contacted authorities and cooperated fully. I’m sharing this without identifying details,” he wrote.

No official details have been released regarding arrests or the outcome of the police report.

Online presence and cautious location details

The driver is known for posting clips of his interactions with passengers and frequently features his dog, Marshmallow, who accompanies him during rides.

His YouTube account describes the channel as documenting light-hearted rides with his dog, branding Marshmallow as “the world’s softest co-pilot.”

The driver did not disclose where the incident took place.

While the hashtag #Minnesota appears in posts related to the video, the exact location of the incident has not been confirmed.
