SINGAPORE: A 61-year-old man is assisting police after CCTV footage captured him reversing his car into a 77-year-old woman in the Sembawang Hills Estate area near Upper Thomson Road.
According to local media, police were alerted at about 2.30pm on 12 November 2025 to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian in Jalan Chengam. The woman was conscious when taken to hospital.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that she was conveyed to Woodlands Health Campus.
Footage shared on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group on the same day shows the white car parked along the residential road. A man is seen entering the vehicle before reversing abruptly.
At the same moment, the woman is seen stepping out of her landed home, preparing to move a rubbish bin. The car suddenly accelerates backwards, striking her and knocking her to the ground.
In the video, the driver parks shortly after the collision, gets out, and walks away from the injured woman.
The timestamp on the footage indicates that the incident happened at about 2.27pm the day before the clip was uploaded.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the man seen in the footage is currently assisting with enquiries.
Authorities have not released further details about the condition of the woman, who remains under medical care.
Residents in the area expressed concern over safety along the narrow estate roads, especially where cars often park close to driveways.
