A 15-year-old girl in Central Kalimantan was killed on 15 Sept 2025 after an argument with her married 42-year-old boyfriend over an iPhone. Upset that he couldn’t afford the model she wanted, she threw money at him, sparking violence. He beat her to death, dumped her body in a river, confessed to his wife, and later attempted suicide out of guilt. Police have arrested him.
A 15-year-old girl in Central Kalimantan tragically lost her life on 15 September 2025 after an argument with her 42-year-old boyfriend over an iPhone ended in violence.
Police said the teenager had asked him for an iPhone worth about 8 million rupiah (US$480), but he could only afford one priced at 3 million rupiah (US$180).
According to a Facebook post by Saja Viral, the girl became upset and threw the money at his face, sparking the argument.
The man, who was married, allegedly lost his temper, grabbed a wooden stick, and beat her until she was unconscious.
He then dragged her body to a river in Teluk Bogam village and dumped it in an attempt to hide the crime.
The truth came to light after her family uncovered the incident and alerted authorities.
The suspect reportedly confessed to his wife that he had killed the girl.
Overcome with guilt, he attempted to take his own life by drinking poison but was rescued and taken to hospital, where he survived.
Police have since arrested him and launched an investigation.
