AI-Generated Summary
  • 98.5% of 37,926 students qualified for secondary school after the 2025 PSLE.
  • 65% of PG1 and PG2 students are eligible to take at least one subject at a higher level.
  • S1 school selection runs from 25 November to 1 December; posting results will be out by 19 December.

A total of 37,926 Primary 6 students received their 2025 PSLE results on 25 November. According to the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB), 98.5% were deemed suitable for secondary education.

This year's progression rate is in line with previous years, reflecting the continued stability of educational outcomes since 2016, when rates hovered at 98.4%.

Students collected their results in person from their primary schools. Those who did not qualify for secondary school may choose to re-sit the PSLE in 2026 or apply to Assumption Pathway School (APS) and NorthLight School (NLS). Both institutions offer custom, experiential learning programmes. Students who have taken the PSLE once may apply with a principal's recommendation.

Full Subject-Based Banding and subject eligibility

Now in its second year of full implementation, Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) allows students to study subjects at varying levels based on individual strengths.

Students are posted to secondary schools under Posting Groups (PG) 1, 2, or 3, corresponding to the former Normal (Technical), Normal (Academic), and Express streams, respectively.

Students in PG1 and PG2 may take English Language, Mother Tongue, Mathematics, and Science at a more demanding level, depending on their Achievement Level (AL) scores in each subject.

  • Those who score AL5 or better in a Standard subject can study it at G3 or G2 level.

  • Those who score AL6 in a Standard subject or AL A in a Foundation subject may take the subject at G2.

For the 2025 cohort, approximately 65% of eligible PG1 and PG2 students can take at least one subject at a more demanding level, consistent with the previous cohort.

S1 Posting Exercise: Submission of school choices

Eligible students received their S1 Option Forms along with their PSLE results. From 11:30am on 25 November to 4:30pm on 1 December, parents may submit secondary school choices through the S1 Internet System (S1-IS) on MOE’s S1 posting website.

Submission requires a valid Singpass, but only one parent needs to log in to complete the process. Those requiring support should contact their child’s school before the 1 December deadline.

MOE strongly encourages families to consider schools holistically, assessing factors such as subject offerings, Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), ethos, location, and support for special educational needs.

To improve chances of admission, students are advised to include at least two to three schools within their six choices where their PSLE score exceeds the previous year's Cut-Off Points (COPs). MOE emphasises that COPs vary yearly and should be treated as general reference only.

For a broader understanding of school options, MOE recommends visiting SchoolFinder and participating in open houses listed at:

S1 posting results release: 18 or 19 December

The results of the Secondary 1 posting will be released on either 18 or 19 December. Students may access their results via:

  • The S1 Portal (using a parent's Singpass);

  • SMS, if a local mobile number was provided during application;

  • Their primary school.

Students are not required to report to their new schools immediately after receiving the posting results. Instead, they should consult the posted schools’ websites for reporting dates, booklists, and instructions on purchasing uniforms and textbooks.

Parents using the Parents Gateway platform will also receive messages from the posted schools from the afternoon of the result announcement.

Students unable to report on the first day of school in January 2026 due to valid reasons should inform the secondary school directly. The school will reserve their place upon confirmation.
