SINGAPORE: A fight between two middle-aged men at a Telok Blangah hawker centre has drawn wide attention online after a video of the altercation spread across social media.
According to footage shared on the public Facebook group Complaint Singapore by Raven Qiu on 25 November, a white-haired man charged at another man holding a stick.
The man with the stick fell in front of a food stall as the white-haired man struck him repeatedly, landing several punches before a bystander intervened to halt the confrontation.
The man holding the stick then got up and appeared ready to continue fighting, while the white-haired man picked up a plastic chair.
The intervening individual managed to keep the pair apart until the man with the stick retrieved a bag and walked away from the scene.
According to reports by Shin Min Daily News, a stall owner at the hawker centre said he believed the two men knew each other because they had been sitting together beforehand.
He added that he did not recognise them, noting that they were not regular customers at the food centre.
The stall owner told Shin Min that he overheard the men arguing before the fight erupted.
He said one of the men insulted the other in dialect, prompting the confrontation.
The stall owner recalled asking the men to stop, and said they left before police arrived.
He later provided CCTV footage from his stall to the authorities after being interviewed as part of ongoing investigations.
He also cleaned bloodstains left on the floor following the altercation.
Police said a 68-year-old man was taken to hospital conscious after the incident.
Both men have been arrested for affray, and investigations remain ongoing.
