Missing 74-year-old Singaporean found dead in park after police search

SINGAPORE: A 74-year-old Singaporean man who had been missing for more than 30 hours was found dead in a park, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed on 23 December 2025.
The man, identified as Chan Tuck Chew, suffered from dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
He was reported missing in the early hours of 21 December 2025.
He was wearing a grey and white checkered polo tee at the time.
The Singapore Police Force had issued a public appeal for information shortly after Chan was reported missing.
The appeal stated that he was last seen in the vicinity of Block 505 Jelapang Road at about 4 am.
In an update provided to local media, an SPF spokesperson said officers made the discovery while following up on a case on the morning of 23 December 2025.
At about 11.40 am, police officers spotted a 74-year-old man lying motionless in the vicinity of Pang Sua Park, the spokesperson said.
Officers attended to the scene, and the man was subsequently pronounced dead there.
The police later confirmed that the deceased was Chan Tuck Chew, who had been the subject of the missing person appeal.
Chan’s family later shared how they learned about his passing. They said that their mother-in-law had gone to Pang Sua Park to search for Chan after he failed to return home.
When she arrived at the park, she noticed that the area had been cordoned off by the police.
She approached the officers at the scene and was informed that the man found was Chan, the family said.
The family expressed their gratitude to everyone who had assisted in the search, including members of the public who shared information and support.
In its statement, the Singapore Police Force said that based on preliminary investigations, there was no indication of foul play.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding Chan’s death.
