ROMANIA: A 49-year-old Romanian man survived a dramatic crash after his Mercedes was launched into the air over several vehicles at a roundabout on 3 December.
CCTV footage shows the car speeding toward the roundabout, clipping the kerb, and being airborne for several seconds before striking a metal pole just yards from a petrol station.
Residents of a nearby apartment block reported hearing a deafening roar from the vehicle’s impact.
A digital render by local news outlet Stirile ProTV showed the Mercedes’ wheels sparking on the kerb before soaring through the air, narrowly avoiding a potential explosion from a nearby petrol pump.
Driver Suffered Medical Episode
Authorities revealed the driver fainted due to a diabetic episode while behind the wheel, causing him to enter the roundabout the wrong way at speed.
He collided with the central island before being launched into the air.
Emergency services rescued the man from the wreckage and transported him to hospital.
He sustained multiple fractures but avoided life-threatening injuries.
